Dominic (Dom) Graham

It begins with ‘character’

My goal, always in writing, is to thrill, challenge and scare.

People always ask about my writing: “Where do you start?” And the answer is: I start with characters. I sketch them out - sometimes drawn from life, sometimes totally from imagination - and build bone and muscle on them, give them points of view, and before you know it, they take on a life of their own. After that, it’s just about dropping them into crazy, challenging environments, and seeing what they do, how they argue (my absolute favourite thing to write is dialogue).

I’ve written many screenplays, both short and feature length, and across many genres (action, drama, thriller, historical) but horror is my first love.

Below you can read more about my works, and any recognition they’ve received.

tl;dr: In October 2024, my PAGE International Award-winning screenplay, The Three Paddies, was optioned by Boy Wonder Productions. Stay tuned.

  • Work in progress.

A tender, tense novel, about a young working-class Catholic family living in a Loyalist neighbourhood in the hot summer of 1996. Told over 3 months, and from the shifting first-person perspective of the 4 family members, Primitives is a dark, emotionally raw exploration of class, family, queerness, and escapist power of imagination.
